had one more night with the christmas tree

had a "midnight snack" of hot cocoa. ALL day he had been asking for some. in a mug. (it was also his idea to have the bib on to keep his shirt clean)

went back to puggles. caroline snapped this picture of the first picnic inside bentley has every had! (take note of the shorts. their classroom gets pretty warm & he never forgets that. so we layer every week!)

picked up an iced coffee (hello christmas gift card!) after puggles & put it in the back of the fridge till morning. 

 ...and we had brussel sprouts with dinner.

happy friday! shawn is traveling with the team this weekend so we are going to hang out with some friends, spend the night with my sisters, fingers crossed grandpa tim gets us donuts & coffee saturday morning, go to joes basketball game, & if we are feeling overly ambitious, make some christmas returns/exchanges.

day two of jed being over while andrea teaches + him & bentley not having the put one toy away before you get another one out rule....resulted in this. but it was worth it because they were occupied for hours, i got other chores done, & when i did go to sort & get everything put away i trashed a few random objects that hand found their way into the toy box. so all is well! have a good weekend, are you headed to a high school football game? we are! fingers crossed for no rain.

mid-week/mid-october catch up.

there are a few events/photos that have happened in october that haven't had their moment in the limelight.
i though i would post a quick catch up so that the slate is clean for a Ponca report next week! we leave tomorrow, to make a long weekend of it.
so today i am making these cookies and a batch of this dip for late night snacking. (don't worry, i also bought a few giant honey crisp apples to go along with the dip!)

fall-ish things...

it's september & fall is quickly approaching.
we have been doing fall-ish things like...

sneezing.
lighting pumpkin pie candles.
wearing sweatshirts in the morning.
going to football games (cheering on the cheerleaders).
doing touch up paint in every room of the house (don't know if that is actually a fall thing, but it's been happening).
cheering on the huskers.
getting outside toys cleaned up & stored away.
watching cousin jedidiah (school has started & andrea has done two days of substitute teaching).
eating our apples with cream cheese/cinnamon/caramel dip. 

two bentley notables:
1. his running joke is to label everything "uncle" ex: uncle mom, uncle toys, i need an uncle snack, etc.
2. if i do not respond to his "MOM!" in about 2 seconds, i get a "HEY BABE!". i'm not the only one. if you do not answer, he will get your attention the same way.
