happy first day of summer!

what summery type things have you all been up to?
us?
everything revolves around party prep for the big third birthday that is quickly approaching.
not so much actually party prep, but more things around the house that have been put off, but now its crunch time!
we have also made time for coffee, the pool, & walks.

happy weekend, everyone!

we have a wedding this weekend & on monday...it's the big day! third birthday!

i'll check back in to show three year old pics & details from the party.

in a weeks time.

it seemed like we spent the large majority of last week taking care of a sick boy.
and by taking care of i mean laying on the couch, all snuggled, watching a show.
and making sure he had water with a straw,
and on the off chance he was hungry, i had cold green grapes waiting.
he ate like a bird for a few days.
one grape would fill him right up.
but he was good about drinking water,
and progressively got better (after getting over the hump).
it may have taken a full week,
but last nights dinner of spaghetti, garlic bread (2 1/2 pieces!), & carrots proved our boy was back.
and just in time for the nice weather that paid us a visit.
(unfortunately i think it is leaving for the rest of the week.)

and OH YEAH, checked off our zoo challenge goal for april! woo! who would have thought this month would have not given us that many good days.
BUT, to make up for it, today was the best.
a perfect day.
and i am not just saying that!
we saw the baby hippo, a giraffe calf, & the lion cubs!
along with going off the beaten path to get a close up of the ostrich (have you ever really LOOKED at the ostrich? very odd creatures.)
and sat on every available animal statue.

over the weekend.

friday. good friday service with my sisters.

saturday. caroline & i drove out to wahoo for my best friend from childhood, annette's baby shower! we also drove past the house i grew up in.
AND we completed March of my zoo challenge.
an absolutely gorgeous day!
it is always special when shawn is the friend we bring along.
saturday night we went & grilled out at my dads. B was outside with grandpa tim, letting the dog sniff around. B says "what is he doing?" "oh dogs just sniff around, maybe he can smell a bunny" B, nose in the air & taking a big whiff exclaims "i don't smell any bunnys!"

another quote from saturday night: after a busy weekend, the house was a bit cluttery. i really wanted to go into the holiday/sunday with things picked up. i asked shawn if he would do a quick vacuum while i tidied up. i was checking on B in the living room. "who is vacuuming?" "dad is! he is helping me clean!" "WHAT?! dad is not the cleaner! YOU are the cleaner!" he could not believe it. (haha. sorry future daughter-in-law.)

easter! church & then lunch with family.
a quick story goes along with this easter basket: (we didn't grow up doing easter baskets) one night during the week, we had been reading our easter book & were talking about how easter is a holiday where we remember what jesus did for us & how exciting it is. B chimes in "YES! and i am so excited to wear my new tie AND get an easter basket FILLED with candy! i went easy on the candy, but he still got his easter basket.

he says "WOW! are these eggs andreas?" (yes, they are. i had borrowed them)

brought a few goodies along for the ride.

i can't blame him. it was sunny.
