30 April 2013

in a weeks time.

it seemed like we spent the large majority of last week taking care of a sick boy.
and by taking care of i mean laying on the couch, all snuggled, watching a show.
and making sure he had water with a straw,
and on the off chance he was hungry, i had cold green grapes waiting.
he ate like a bird for a few days.
one grape would fill him right up.
but he was good about drinking water,
and progressively got better (after getting over the hump).
it may have taken a full week,
but last nights dinner of spaghetti, garlic bread (2 1/2 pieces!), & carrots proved our boy was back.
and just in time for the nice weather that paid us a visit.
(unfortunately i think it is leaving for the rest of the week.)

and OH YEAH, checked off our zoo challenge goal for april! woo! who would have thought this month would have not given us that many good days.
BUT, to make up for it, today was the best.
a perfect day.
and i am not just saying that!
we saw the baby hippo, a giraffe calf, & the lion cubs!
along with going off the beaten path to get a close up of the ostrich (have you ever really LOOKED at the ostrich? very odd creatures.)
and sat on every available animal statue.

a little humidifier + eucalyptus oil

why did you pull your shorts up so high? "CAUSE I AM SO HOT!"

experimenting with charcoal!

playing with girl toys. nursing the baby.

"i can't fall asleep. i'm to wakeup-y!"

B would have nothing to do with this guy.

such a classic feature of the zoo!

ending april on a high note.

27 March 2013

lately // wrapping up march.

we have been playing it low key the past few days...
i got a little kink in my back & it didn't heal up as quickly as i would have liked.
B is a sweet little nurse, giving me kisses, "mama your back just hurt a little bit?"
but i am feel way better, just in time for this warm weather that is headed our way!
i wanted to skip nap time today for a walk, but i didn't think his puggles teachers would appreciate it.

i just realized this is my wrapping up march post!
can you even believe it?
this hasn't been a very "springy" march.
i'm not to sad to see it go.
only 12 more shopping days until april 7th...

i have a cute easter story to share.
but i will save it for next time!

excited to show his craft from andreas!

we went for a little drive in the country.

and laughed when we got caught taking pictures.

we have started going to library time! so fun!

when i woke him up to go he said he was to tired. but when we left he said "that was fun, mom! and i'm not tired any more!"

snuggle time with jed & B

roasting marshmallows with dad

"mom can i be a hero? i'm gonna need a cape."

extra kisses for my back hurting.

reading the bible before bed

"working" outside with dad (he is actually having a snack. he grabbed a bar & found a spot to enjoy it all on his own)

more library time! i can't get over how cute he is in those headphones

my favorite dressing at Jayz is the creamy garlic.

28 February 2013

wrapping up February!

this is secretly a fun month to wrap up.
in my mind, it is the last month of winter (i suppose on the calendar too)
& March brings spring!

my goal for March is to GET OUTSIDE!
we have been really cooped up.
it has just been cold & windy.
not ideal outside conditions at all.

we have wrapped up basketball season.
crazy!
it was the most tearful end of the season (for me) we have had yet.
we didn't qualify for nationals (we have the last 2 seasons),
and we had our two seniors, who were freshman when shawn took over the program.
when they both fouled out with about a minute left in our game, i found myself teary-eyed knowing they won't be playing with us again.
and when i finally get that under control, the game is over, and our player offers to pray over both teams.
once again, so teary-eyed! (actually, its happening again as i type) i was SO proud of the character that reflected. that we could lose (and we didn't play well either) but still thank God for safety & fun.

shopping for swim trunks, trying to convince me he needs a fedora
at the hotel (for regionals) for all of 5 minutes. ready to swim!

practice at k-state!

watching the guys team--the gym was SO hot!

congrats to our mens team!

home to watch Elsie play basketball!

and Caroline cheer!

AND....A very special birthday wish (a day late) to my sister, Maryclayre! Happy 24th birthday, Mary! What a special year this will be! I hope you can enjoy & savor every minute of all the changes & adventures.
love, me
at hilton head island...when I was 24. we wanted to be brave & adventurous--and we were! this picture included, we had a lady take a picture of us before we went body boarding. after our time was up we went to look at the camera & she hadn't actually taken it! so we went back to the rental guy & had him snap a photo. this moment HAD to be documented. that is probably why there aren't any pictures of us catchin' sweet waves...the lady was supposed to be taking pictures...;)
