our week...

the sun is shining this morning!
we are watching Lady & the Tramp.
B is actually sitting on my lap as I type.

fun things from this week.

• i made dinner once.
• we ate homemade ravioli at meemas!
• we went on a date!
• B has started playing toys by himself.
• he took a 40 minute bubble bath. only calling me in for more bubbles & hot water. 
• not making dinner = all other chores getting done easily.
• we played memory
• we have also been working on opposites.
• listening to our Wee Sing Bible Songs
• got milk from the farm
• we got yummy new chewable vitamins!
• B has been twirling my hair between his fingers more than ever
• iced coffee is what i have been drinking, even though it hasn't been very warm outside 
• (in case you are calculating, our other dinner was at church. wednesday before awana they serve a meal!)

have a nice weekend! i am looking forward to a dinner with our basketball girls, a workout class with andrea, a lunch date with a friend, & a family lunch after church on sunday!

february wrap-up

funny feb stories:

• shawns parents arrived to our house late (about 10 pm) & bentley had stayed up to see them. he was wild, running crazy, showing all his toys...we were talking about him & what he likes these days. i didn't want to distract him from his playing so i said to kathy, "just this week, he has started liking to watch E-L-M-O on the computer" bentley stops, jumps up & yells "ELMO!" 

• earlier in the week, we were watching shawn at basketball practice. we were sitting at the top of the bleachers, and shawn was walking towards us. bentley thought he was looking up at us so he waved. shawn wasn't looking...so bentley stands up & yells at full voice "SHAWN!" that got his dad's attention, so then bentley got his wave (and a laugh from all the basketball girls.) 

• we went bowling this weekend with some of shawns relatives who were in town. i haven't bowled in forever! so i gave in. (you know you always break your nail, bowling balls are way heavier than you think, and your arm always gets tired...but i pushed through.) the first game was pretty bad, i was just getting my feel for it, so i decided to bowl another round. the second game was going much better & my last frame i got a spare, so i got to go one more time. my score was 99. all i have to do is take it nice & easy, and yay! over 100! i line up, very serious. take a deep breath, BONK! I SENT IT INSTANTLY INTO THE GUTTER! i don't know what happened. and i don't want to talk about it. ;)

rest of the month...

• play date tomorrow with friends!
• this weekend out of town for our regional tournament (if we win, the team gets to go to nationals!)
• sisters birthday!
• leap day

...and that about sums up the rest of our month. (i will be back next week to let you know how the team did/ i'm sure to have some cute pictures of bentley in the hotel pool. he is totally going to love it!)

today, we...

made pancakes for breakfast.
wore sweats & sweatshirts to keep warm.
were shocked at how cold 52 is in september. (it would be a heat wave if it was march!)
did a few chores,
watched a little veggie tales.
danced.
drank some apple cider. (ok so one of us had warm water + apple juice in the sippy cup)
(i)held a sleeping baby...for a long time.
blew our nose. (yes, you heard that right. the little nose too)
played outside. and by outside i mean in the car. B loves driving!
at some fritos as our afternoon snack.
waited for dad to come home. (while playing, or really while doing anything, B will stop, look up & yell for "DA!")
ate supper at grandpa tims. stew + lemon pepper. yum.
turned on the furnace (don't judge. its freezing in here! way below the comfort zone.)

just checking in.

we have had a lot going on these last few weeks...some happy, some sad, some fun, some stress, but all in God's timing.
1. we made an unexpected trip to Kansas to celebrate the life of shawns grandma. we are sad because we miss her, but rejoice in the assurance of salvation & everlasting life! celine posted some precious pictures of grandma reimer.
2. because of this, shawns older brother  + wife & kids are here from california! and this weekend they are our house guests! we are crammed in, but life is good. this morning we got up early, watched dora & made scrambled huevos (our niece learned spanish & english at the same time so there are certain words that she still goes to in spanish), naturally i thought she was saying waffles for the longest time.
3. last weekend, bentley figured out how to roll from his back on to his tummy. for a few days, he teetered on his side and it was all i could do to not just push him over. now, he squirms around like it is nothing. the power of muscle memory.
4. tonight, he backed up halfway across the room, ending up with his feet under the couch. if he used that momentum to go forward, we would be in trouble.
5. i have christmas list ideas brewing in my head...
6. i experimented with flax seed. loved it.
7. it is really cold here. i haven't wrapped my brain around it & still leave the house in flip flops!
8. i don't think that i am aware that thanksgiving is next week. i'm really excited (or at least i would be if i realized it was so close). we are spoiled this year--experiencing the best of both worlds. we will be doing thanksgiving meal (which is tradition to me) here, with my family & then hitting the road for the 7 hour trek back to kansas. the whole weekend (in kansas), is full of tradition so we will be able to participate in most of it! bentley doesn't seem to mind the car ride to much. since we will be going down a day late we are on our own, which might be tough. i don't know how shawn & i will produce the four part hymns that we love to sing when everyone is in the car. last trip it was the only thing keeping bentely from crying. there are many times were we hope we aren't on hidden camera with all that singing...
9. for the first time, i said the words "he will be 5 months next week".

i forgot to show you pictures of marys visit. this was B's favorite way to sit. close to baby cousin.

is it friday again?

1. how do the weeks go so fast?
2. today i have to get done everything that didn't get done monday-thursday.
3. yesterday, i failed the hidden camera test. my aunt stopped over with 2 minute notice & my house was a disaster.
4. we have been logging some serious miles on our walks this week!
5. i have bananas to make banana bread. (if i say i have bananas, then do i just say to make bread? the bananas are understood? try typing banana 4, now 5 times. its harder than it looks.)
6. my sister flys in from south carolina this coming up wednesday...that got decided 2 days ago.
7. we are going to the pumpkin patch tonight.
8. i am going grocery shopping next week. i have an awesome stash of coupons. (actually, it is more than a stash, they are organized in baseball card sleeves in a notebook. geek!) do you use coupons? i'm a rookie. (no baseball card pun intended)
9. excited for the big game tomorrow.
10. i think i will try this recipe for my apples.
11. i turned on the heater this morning. we were a good 10 degrees below the "comfort zone".
12. do you have your halloween costume ready? or at least an idea?

-filled out my bracket. march madness is in full swing over here.
-got my teaching certificate in the mail! it expires ON my 30th birthday. before i saw that date written down, i wasn't aware that i would have a 30th birthday.
-printed my 30% off coupon for Gap (maternity). lets cross our fingers for super finds!
-spent time outside on the 64 degree day.
-got the tiniest of sunburn on my hands! woohoo!
-am getting accustomed to my new ride.
-wore a swimsuit (hot tub on our 1 night anniversary hotel stay) & people asked about the baby.
-still am shocked that people don't think i just eat to many mini 3 musketeers.
-ate to many mini 3 musketeers.
-am still working on getting over the cold i caught last week.
-found my current foundation in the clearance basket at target. i don't know why it was there, but i will gladly buy it for $2.
-ordered a soy iced chai latte. and then contemplated the best way to fit in the word soy. is saying it first the correct order? or iced soy chai latte? chai latte, iced with soy? iced chai--easy on the dairy, lets make it a soy?
-became addicted to free rice. very fun + a good cause = no time wasted.

the people have spoken.

i am here. i'm still alive. kind of. here's what's been going on/needs to be going on....

01. i currently have only 5 out of the approximate 12 christmas gifts i need to purchase. and actually the 5 gifts i have are only 1/2 of the present for each of those people....so i'm not done with them. you better hope i don't have your name.

02. our apartment is a disaster zone of laundry & christmas. must do something about that.

03. it now also is messy with luggage from our weekend trip to springfield, missouri. we had 2 basketball games.

04. we won both.

05. and yes, there was a legit cat fight amongst team memebers. but i think they are over it. girls.

06. i am currently watching treasure island on tcm. the disney version.

07. did you know i collect nativity sets?

08. did you know mcdonalds has good hot chocolate?

09. i love picture texts.

10. i can't find my ugg slipper boot. anyone seen it?

11. mary & D come home a week from yesterday. (sometimes backwards counting like that is confusing to me)

the past 5 days i spent in savannah, ga with my sister & her husband.  we had a great time! they are a perfect host pair. 

on the plane back, i made a list of my favorite memories....(in no particular order)

02. browsing at Target ( i know, i know--don't they have that in omaha? but when you are on vacation, no time schedule, sipping on starbucks, AND with your sister?  it gets put on the list.)
