A psalm. For giving grateful praise.
1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
2 Worship the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
3 Know that the LORD is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
2 Worship the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
3 Know that the LORD is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.
i remember memorizing this psalm the months leading up to thanksgiving. we would go to grandmothers house, and after the meal, after a few heming, and hawing, stand in the middle of the living room & recite this verse. i remember mary doing it with me, maybe kami. i don't remember being to nervous. looking back, i bet we were pretty cute.
this month, i have had the beginning of verse 4 on my november calendar. it has been a daily reminder to have an attitude of thanksgiving & praise. i am working on my thankful list. not just of things i should be thankful for (because that is unending), but of things that are a part of my daily life & i want to take the time to really think about & be grateful for.
